Israel Orders Gaza Evacuations Over Kites and Balloons as Katz Threatens Severe Response
Israel has reportedly ordered its military to evacuate Palestinians from parts of Gaza where children fly kites or release balloons toward southern Israel.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz described every such launch as an “act of terrorism” and ordered a forceful response against those responsible, including possible population evacuations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also warned that areas linked to kite, balloon or drone launches could face military action.
The reported move follows growing Israeli public pressure after several kites were found near communities along the Gaza-Israel boundary. Palestinian organisations have urged parents to prevent children from flying kites, warning that the Israeli threats could endanger civilians.
The developments have raised concerns over further displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, as Israel continues military operations across the enclave.
