Over a Thousand Health Professionals Demand Boycott of Israeli Medical Association Over Gaza

More than 1,150 health professionals and organisations have signed a petition calling for a boycott of the Israeli Medical Association (IMA), accusing it of failing to uphold medical ethics during the Gaza war.

The campaign, led by the People’s Health Movement, Doctors for Gaza, and the Health Advisory Council of Jewish Voice for Peace, is urging the World Medical Association (WMA) to suspend the IMA.

Campaign organisers accuse the IMA of remaining silent over attacks on Gaza’s healthcare system, the deaths and detention of Palestinian medical workers, and alleged abuses in detention facilities. They argue that the global medical community should take action against what they describe as medical complicity.

The petition also calls for the issue to be discussed at the WMA General Assembly in October and seeks greater recognition of Palestinian medical representation within the organisation.
