UN Warns Palestinian Children Are Becoming Increasingly Unprotected
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has warned that Palestinian children are facing greater risks as human rights organizations and humanitarian groups reduce or suspend their activities in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
In a statement, the committee criticized measures targeting rights defenders and civil society organizations, saying restrictions, raids, travel bans, financial sanctions, and threats have made it increasingly difficult for them to operate.
The committee noted that these organizations have spent decades protecting Palestinian children, documenting rights violations, and providing legal support. It warned that limiting their work could leave children more vulnerable and allow abuses to continue without accountability.
The UN body called on Israeli authorities to remove restrictions on child rights defenders and urged the international community to support and protect organizations working with Palestinian children and families.
