Turkish and Syrian security forces detained 10 individuals accused of having links to ISIL during a joint operation carried out in Syria, according to Turkish state media and security sources. Officials said the suspects were Turkish nationals believed to have joined ISIL after travelling into Syria between 2014 and 2017.

Authorities stated that the operation was coordinated between Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and Syrian intelligence services after investigators tracked the suspects’ movements inside Syria. Most of those detained were later transferred back to Türkiye for further questioning and legal proceedings.

Security sources said some of the suspects were allegedly connected to previous attacks in Türkiye. One detainee was reportedly linked to the 2015 Ankara train station bombing, which killed more than 100 people, while others were accused of involvement in attacks targeting Turkish soldiers in northern Syria. Turkish officials said the arrests were part of continuing operations against ISIL networks operating across the region.
