Israel’s $100 Million Campaign to Improve US Image Faces Growing Public Backlash

New reports have revealed details of a major Israeli government-funded effort to influence public opinion in the United States, with spending estimated at around $100 million since October 2023.

According to investigations based on government documents and foreign agent filings, the campaign involved digital advertising, public relations firms, influencers and online content projects aimed at improving Israel’s image amid criticism over the Gaza war and regional conflicts.

One major campaign reportedly allocated tens of millions of dollars to online platforms, including Google, YouTube and social media networks. Additional funding went to US-based advertising companies, lobbying groups and public diplomacy projects targeting different American audiences.

The reports also highlighted efforts aimed at younger conservatives and evangelical communities, as well as campaigns involving influencers and online messaging.

Despite the large investment, polling data shows that public support for Israel among many Americans has declined. Recent surveys indicate growing criticism of Israeli policies, including among younger voters and some traditionally supportive groups.
