Israeli Attack Kills Gaza Family of Six Despite Ongoing Ceasefire Efforts
An Israeli air strike on a residential area in Gaza City killed a Palestinian family of six, including four children, according to local health officials. The attack struck the al-Masri family home in the Sabra neighbourhood while the family was reportedly asleep.
The victims were identified as Firas and Salsabeel al-Masri and their four children. Rescue teams searched through the damaged home as relatives described the incident as another example of the continued danger facing civilians in Gaza.
The Israeli military confirmed the strike, saying it targeted a Hamas member and that it was reviewing the outcome of the operation. Palestinian officials said the attack adds to more than 1,150 Palestinian deaths since a US-backed ceasefire was announced, despite the pause in large-scale fighting.
The United Nations has expressed concern over continued strikes in Gaza, warning that civilian deaths could represent violations of international humanitarian law and calling for protection of civilians.
