Israeli Jets Entered Iranian Airspace During Peace Talks, Raising Fears of Attack

has reported that Israeli fighter jets entered Iranian airspace during diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, raising fears among U.S. officials that Israel could target senior Iranian negotiators.

According to the report, Washington was concerned that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf could be attacked while returning from talks in Pakistan. U.S. officials reportedly warned regional governments to alert Tehran, fearing such an attack would derail negotiations and reignite conflict.

The report says Pakistani fighter jets escorted the Iranian delegation's aircraft during the visit to Islamabad. On the return flight, Iranian security services allegedly received intelligence that Israeli jets had crossed into Iranian airspace, prompting the delegation's aircraft to make an emergency landing in Mashhad. The officials later traveled to Tehran by land.

Iranian officials reportedly sought security assurances from Washington through Pakistani and Qatari intermediaries. A senior adviser to Ghalibaf later confirmed the emergency landing account on social media.

The report also states that while the administration of Donald Trump continued pursuing negotiations that led to a framework agreement in June, Israeli officials remained skeptical of a deal that did not meet broader strategic objectives. An Israeli embassy spokesperson declined to comment on the allegations.
