Israel Defence Minister Says Gaza Palestinians Could Be Expelled Under US Plan
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has said Israel is prepared to expel Palestinians from the Gaza Strip if the United States determines where they would be relocated.
Speaking at a conference hosted by Israeli news outlet Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, Katz claimed that Gaza cannot have a “real solution” without what he described as Palestinian migration.
Katz said Israel was organised and ready to remove Gaza’s population “by sea, by air, by every way possible,” indicating that the government is preparing for a large-scale displacement scenario.
His remarks come amid continued international concern over the future of Gaza and the fate of its Palestinian population following years of Israeli military operations and widespread destruction.
Any forced expulsion of Gaza’s population would raise serious legal and humanitarian concerns and could amount to forcible transfer under international law.
The comments also place renewed attention on proposals involving the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza and the role Washington could play in determining their potential destination.
