Hamas Continues Ceasefire Talks with Mediators to Advance Gaza Agreement
Hamas says consultations with mediators Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye are continuing to ensure the full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and prepare for its second phase.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said discussions are taking place with Palestinian factions and mediators to finalize the remaining provisions of the first phase and establish mechanisms for the next stage. A Hamas delegation is expected to visit Cairo in the coming days to respond to new proposals presented by mediators.
According to Qassem, the second phase will address the establishment of a national committee to administer Gaza, the possible deployment of international forces, and discussions surrounding Palestinian weapons. Hamas reaffirmed its readiness to hand over all governance responsibilities, including the security sector, to the proposed national committee.
Qassem accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire by restricting humanitarian aid, carrying out military attacks, expanding buffer zones, and displacing civilians. He claimed more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect and urged mediators to pressure Israel to fulfill its commitments.
He also called for the immediate activation of Gaza's national administration committee to accelerate humanitarian relief and reconstruction efforts while preventing further suffering for civilians.
The ceasefire framework announced in September 2025 includes the release of Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the creation of a technocratic administration, and deployment of an international stabilization force. Hamas says successful implementation depends on Israel meeting its obligations under the agreement.
