Former US President Barack Obama has sought to clarify remarks in which he said “aliens are real,” after President Donald Trump accused him of disclosing classified information.

Obama made the comment during a podcast interview when asked directly about extraterrestrials, prompting viral clips online. In a follow-up statement, Obama said he had seen no evidence of alien contact during his presidency and framed his earlier remark as a broader point about the vastness of the universe and the likelihood that life may exist elsewhere. He also dismissed conspiracy theories that aliens are being held at Nevada’s Area 51 facility.

Trump later said Obama “made a big mistake” by addressing the topic publicly, claiming the former president had revealed classified information — but Trump did not provide evidence to support that allegation.

The exchange comes amid renewed public interest in UAPs, as US agencies continue investigations into unexplained sightings while saying they have found no verified proof of extraterrestrial technology.
