Gaza Mother Says Newborn Son Killed in Israeli Strike After Losing Three Children in 2023
Fatima Nofal, a mother from Gaza, has lost her fourth son after an Israeli air strike hit her family home in al-Bureij refugee camp.
Her 15-month-old son Zaid was killed in the attack, which also injured Fatima and her daughters. The tragedy came after she had already lost three sons, including a newborn baby, in an Israeli strike in 2023.
Zaid’s birth had brought hope to the family after months of grief and displacement. Fatima described him as a “miracle” who brought happiness to their home during the war.
Following his death, she said she faces the pain of explaining to her injured daughter that her little brother will not return. She also accused Israeli attacks of causing widespread suffering among Palestinian families, especially children.
