Gaza Health Ministry Calls for Release of Detained Medics
The Gaza Health Ministry has called for the immediate release of two ambulance drivers detained while carrying out medical duties in the territory.
According to reports cited by Haaretz, the two drivers were among seven Palestinian Red Crescent crew members stopped on Gaza’s main Salah al-Din highway by armed groups operating in the area. Civilians were also reportedly detained during the incident.
Five members of the medical team were later released, while the remaining two are still being held, the ministry said.
The report also noted earlier claims that some armed groups in Gaza, reportedly operating with Israeli backing, have increased their visibility in recent months, positioning themselves as alternative authorities to Hamas.
The Gaza Health Ministry condemned the detentions and demanded the immediate release of the remaining medics.
