US Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran as War Cost Climbs to $37.5 Billion

The United States carried out another round of air strikes on Iran, marking the 11th consecutive night of military operations as President Donald Trump said the campaign is far from over. Air defence systems were activated in Tehran, while US forces said they targeted military logistics, surveillance sites, underground weapons storage and maritime capabilities.

Pentagon officials said the conflict has now cost the United States an estimated $37.5 billion, prompting requests for additional military funding. Trump also warned that a suspected underground nuclear facility near Natanz could become a future target, drawing strong warnings from Iran of broader retaliation if attacked.

Iran said diplomatic contacts with Washington are continuing through mediators but also expanded its military response by targeting US-linked assets in the Gulf. Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan reported intercepting Iranian drones and missiles, while tensions also increased after Yemen's Houthi movement threatened Saudi Arabia's ports.

The conflict has also disrupted regional shipping. Two tankers were reportedly damaged near the Strait of Hormuz, while vessels in the Red Sea altered their routes amid growing security concerns. Despite the escalation, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington remains open to a diplomatic solution.
