US-Iran Mediators Launch Lebanon De-Confliction Mechanism
Mediators involved in the US-Iran negotiations have announced the creation of a new de-confliction mechanism aimed at supporting the implementation of agreements related to Lebanon.
According to a joint statement, the new de-confliction cell will include representatives from the United States, Iran, and the Lebanese government, with additional support from countries facilitating the negotiations.
The mechanism is designed to monitor adherence to commitments aimed at ending military operations in Lebanon, as outlined in the existing memorandum of understanding between the parties.
Officials said the direct communication channel will help address incidents quickly, reduce the risk of escalation, and improve coordination among stakeholders. The initiative is considered a key step in maintaining stability in Lebanon and strengthening the broader US-Iran diplomatic framework.
