A small passenger plane crashed near Juba, South Sudan, on April 27, 2026, killing all 14 people on board, officials confirmed.

The aircraft, a Cessna 208 Caravan, was flying from Yei to the capital when it lost contact with air traffic control shortly after takeoff. It went down about 20km (12 miles) southwest of Juba, with no survivors reported.

Authorities said the plane was carrying 13 passengers and one pilot, including two Kenyan nationals and 12 South Sudanese citizens. Emergency teams were dispatched to the crash site, where wreckage was found burned and scattered across hilly terrain.

Preliminary reports suggest poor weather and low visibility may have contributed to the crash, though investigations are ongoing. South Sudan has a history of aviation accidents, often linked to challenging flying conditions, aging aircraft, and limited regulatory oversight.
