US-Iran Deal Promises End to War but How It Will Work Remains Unclear

Doubts continue to surround the US-Iran interim agreement aimed at ending the Middle East war, as key details of implementation remain unclear.

US President Donald Trump said a preliminary deal had been signed, but officials confirmed that a permanent ceasefire is still under negotiation. The agreement is expected to extend a temporary truce and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, though shipping companies say confidence may take weeks to return.

The deal also leaves major issues unresolved, including Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief, and future negotiations during a 60-day period. Questions remain over whether Iran will cut support for regional armed groups and limit its missile programme.

While oil prices initially fell on news of the agreement, markets later steadied as uncertainty persisted. Shipping firms said they would only resume full transit once safety is assured.

Tensions also remain over Lebanon, where Israel insists it will maintain military positions and retain the right to respond to Hezbollah attacks, despite Iranian calls for a full ceasefire.
