UAE Gives No Direct Confirmation on Reported Pre-October 7 Warning
The United Arab Emirates has declined to directly confirm or deny reports that it warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about a possible major Hamas operation before the October 7, 2023 attack.
The issue follows a recent report alleging that the UAE leadership had passed information about preparations for a large-scale Hamas operation roughly 10 days before the attack. Netanyahu has rejected the report, while the UAE has said sensitive security matters are handled through the relevant government and security channels rather than being discussed publicly at the level of national leaders.
The UAE's response leaves the reported warning unconfirmed. The dispute has renewed questions surrounding the intelligence and security assessments made before October 7, while conflicting accounts continue to emerge over whether the warning reached Israeli leadership.
