Iran Says It Honored Ceasefire as Trump Declares Truce Over
Iran has insisted it remains committed to its ceasefire agreement with the United States after President Donald Trump declared the truce "over" while confirming that further negotiations with Tehran would continue.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had fulfilled its commitments under the memorandum of understanding and accused Washington of violating parts of the agreement by imposing additional sanctions and increasing pressure on Iran.
Trump, meanwhile, repeated that the ceasefire had ended and warned of severe consequences if Iran threatened US interests. Despite the rhetoric, both sides have agreed to continue diplomatic contacts, with Qatar and Oman remaining involved in mediation efforts.
Tensions also remain high over the Strait of Hormuz, where the United States has reportedly urged Iran to stop attacks on commercial shipping. Iran maintains that it intends to retain control over the strategic waterway, while talks on the issue are expected to continue in Oman.
The latest exchange highlights the fragile state of US-Iran relations as both countries balance military tensions with ongoing diplomatic efforts.
