Turkey Calls for More Global Pressure on Israel Over Gaza Aid Crisis
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has urged the international community to increase pressure on Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza, saying the issue has received less attention due to the Gulf conflict.
In an interview, Fidan said the international community must push Israel to ensure Palestinians receive sufficient humanitarian assistance. He credited the US-backed Board of Peace with helping halt the conflict but said it had failed to meet aid commitments.
On Iran, Fidan said the ceasefire could still hold despite US President Donald Trump’s announcement that it had ended, suggesting there had been misunderstandings over shipping movements in the Strait of Hormuz.
Regarding Turkey-Israel tensions, Fidan said there was no reason for an open conflict but warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies were creating broader regional problems.
