Türkiye has raised electricity and natural gas prices by up to 25%, citing rising global energy costs and increased import expenses.
The price adjustments, announced on April 3, are expected to affect both households and businesses across the country. Officials said the move was necessary to reflect higher international energy prices and to maintain supply stability.
Energy costs have been under pressure globally due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and disruptions in key supply routes, including in the Middle East. Türkiye, which relies heavily on energy imports, has been particularly exposed to these fluctuations.
Authorities did not rule out further adjustments if global prices continue to rise. The increase is likely to add pressure on inflation and household expenses in the coming months.
