SpaceX carried out another test flight of its Starship rocket from Texas, with the company describing the mission as an important step forward despite technical issues during the flight. The launch drew large crowds as the massive spacecraft lifted off successfully from the company’s Starbase facility.
During the mission, some of the rocket’s engines reportedly shut down while in flight. However, Starship continued operating and completed several planned objectives before re-entering Earth’s atmosphere. The spacecraft later burned up over the ocean during a planned splashdown sequence, which SpaceX had expected as part of the test.
SpaceX has continued using test flights to gather data for future missions linked to deep-space travel and NASA’s lunar programme. The company has repeatedly stated that each launch, including those with technical problems, helps engineers improve the rocket’s design and performance.
