North Korea Threatens Military Response After Japan Tests US Tomahawk Missile
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, has warned that Pyongyang may take “additional military options” after Japan conducted a test launch of a US-made Tomahawk cruise missile.
Kim accused Japan of abandoning its defensive military policy and moving toward becoming a force capable of launching preemptive strikes. She said North Korea would respond in a way that makes Japan feel its security situation has become more vulnerable.
She also blamed the United States for supporting Japan’s military expansion by supplying Tomahawk missiles and assisting with related operations.
The warning follows growing North Korean criticism of US, South Korean and Japanese security cooperation. Analysts say Pyongyang may use Japan’s military modernization as justification for further weapons tests and military demonstrations.
