At least 12 people were killed and around 28 others wounded in an attack on residential areas of southern Tehran, Iranian state media reported, part of continuing violence in the nearly month‑long US‑Israel war on Iran. The deaths occurred when enemy strikes hit civilian neighbourhoods in the Varamin district, injuring families and damaging homes.

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump repeated claims that talks to end the conflict are underway, asserting that diplomatic efforts — including indirect communications through mediators — could help bring hostilities to a close. Trump’s statements come amid mixed signals, with Iranian officials publicly denying direct negotiations with Washington and insisting no formal talks have taken place.

The wider conflict, now stretching into late March, has drawn international concern as strikes continue across Tehran and other cities, and efforts at diplomacy remain uncertain despite claims of progress. Civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure have intensified calls for an end to the fighting.
