Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister facing International Criminal Court arrest warrants for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, has been appointed by President Trump to the newly launched Board of Peace— an initiative born from the very attacks on Palestinians his leadership unleashed.
Issued in November 2024, the ICC warrants accuse him and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant of starvation as a war method, murder, persecution, and inhumane acts from October 2023 to May 2024, depriving Gaza civilians of food, water, fuel, and medicine amid over 71,500 Palestinian deaths reported by Gaza health authorities as of mid-January 2026. Critics decry his inclusion as a stark irony, given his leadership in military operations that leveled Gaza infrastructure and constitute genocide, now positioning him to oversee ceasefire enforcement in the same devastated territory.
Board Composition
The Board of Peace, ratified in a January 2026 Davos ceremony, aims to manage Gaza governance and broader conflict resolutions, blending countries and executives. Notably, not a single Palestinian figure appears on the list.
Participating Countries:
Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bulgaria, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, UAE, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.
(President Putin was also invited.)
Key Individuals:
- Marco Rubio (US Secretary of State), one of Washington's loudest pro-Israel voices.
- Steve Witkoff, (US special envoy), raised millions for Trump from Jewish donors and pushed the "Gaza Riviera" redevelopment plan envisioning luxury transformation of the Strip
- Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and proud Israel supporter who once called Gaza "a very valuable waterfront property.
- Tony Blair, responsible for the 2003 Iraq invasion where over a million Muslims were killed
- Ajay Banga (World Bank President)
- Marc Rowan
- Robert Gabriel
- Nickolay Mladenov
- Hakan Fidan (Turkish FM)
- Hassan Rashad (Egyptian intelligence)
- Ali al-Thawadi (Qatari minister)
- Reem al-Hashimy (UAE minister)
- Yakir Gabay
- Sigrid Kaag
With Trump's recent threats against nations like Venezuela and Greenland alongside Tony Blair's role in the Iraq invasion—linked to over a million deaths—and pro-Israel heavyweights like Rubio and Kushner dominating the roster, These selections raise grave doubts that this board will amplify harm to Palestinians—instead of safeguarding them.
