Pakistan reportedly deployed around 8,000 troops to Saudi Arabia as part of long-standing military cooperation between the two countries, according to a report discussing regional defence coordination and security partnerships. The report also stated that Chinese-made air defence systems and warplanes played an increasing role in Saudi military planning amid growing tensions across the Middle East.
The deployment reflects the close strategic relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, which have cooperated for decades on military training, intelligence sharing and regional security. Pakistani troops have previously been stationed in the kingdom to support defence infrastructure and security operations.
The report further highlighted Saudi Arabia’s growing interest in Chinese military technology, particularly air defence systems viewed as alternatives to Western weapons platforms. Analysts say Gulf states have increasingly diversified their defence partnerships in recent years as geopolitical tensions and regional conflicts continue to reshape security calculations.
Observers noted that the cooperation also reflects broader shifts in global alliances, with countries in the Middle East seeking stronger ties with Asian powers including China and Pakistan. The military relationship between Riyadh and Islamabad remains one of the most significant defence partnerships in the Muslim world.
