Israeli forces carried out a new military incursion into southern Syria on Friday, with nine military vehicles entering the Wadi al-Raqad area in western Daraa province.
The forces reportedly conducted searches in the area before detaining a shepherd and taking him to an unknown location. Wadi al-Raqad, part of the Yarmouk Basin, has witnessed repeated Israeli military movements in recent months.
Separately, Israeli forces shelled the outskirts of Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside with artillery. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
Israeli military activity in southern Syria has continued since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024. Damascus has repeatedly demanded an Israeli withdrawal to positions held before December 8, 2024, and reaffirmed its commitment to the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement.
