Israeli Fire Forces Second Gaza Clinic to Evacuate in a Week

Israeli gunfire near a medical point in central Gaza reportedly injured a woman and her child and forced patients and medical workers to evacuate, according to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).

The incident occurred at a clinic run by MAP’s partner, the Culture and Free Thought Association, in Abu Madeen between Al-Bureij and Al-Maghazi. Stray bullets struck the facility and damaged a rooftop water tank. Around 40 patients were inside when the clinic was evacuated.

MAP said the incident was the second time in less than a week that one of its supported medical facilities had been forced to evacuate following Israeli gunfire. Earlier, an Israeli military quadcopter reportedly killed a 65-year-old patient inside a medical point in Jabalia, northern Gaza.

MAP said the central Gaza clinic normally serves around 250 displaced people each day. The organisation also said medical services across Gaza continue to face shortages of medicines and supplies, while damaged health facilities struggle to maintain operations.

Earlier this month, Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza also suspended operations and evacuated staff as Israeli military vehicles advanced toward the facility.

Gaza Health Ministry officials have additionally warned that fuel shortages could affect more than 20 hospitals and health centres. MAP said the repeated disruption of medical services is worsening an already fragile healthcare system in the territory..
