At least six people were killed in separate cross-border aerial attacks reported in Russia and Ukraine this week, according to regional officials on both sides.
In Russia’s Belgorod region, local authorities said a drone strike hit the city of Stary Oskol overnight, killing two civilians. The regional governor stated that air defense systems intercepted multiple drones, though falling debris caused casualties and damage to residential areas. Russia’s Defense Ministry said more than 20 drones were shot down over several regions and attributed the attack to Ukrainian forces. Kyiv has not publicly commented on the specific incident.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, officials reported that a Russian airstrike on the town of Bohodukhiv killed four people and injured two others. Emergency crews responded to damaged residential buildings, and Ukrainian authorities said guided aerial bombs were used in the attack. Moscow has not issued a specific statement regarding the strike.
The incidents underscore continuing hostilities along and beyond the border, with aerial attacks affecting civilian areas on both sides.
