Israeli Air Strike in Gaza Kills Two Hamas Security Officials in Deir al-Balah
An Israeli air strike on a vehicle in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, killed two Hamas security officials, according to the group's Interior Ministry.
Those killed were Colonel Wael Musa al-Ladawi, head of Hamas's internal security service in central Gaza, and Ramez Tawfiq Abu Zureiq. Their vehicle was struck while traveling through the city, and their bodies were later taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
The strike came a day after another Israeli attack killed the head of Hamas's police force in northern Gaza. Israel said that official was also a member of Hamas's military wing.
Hamas accused Israel of targeting its security institutions in an effort to create instability and prevent governance in Gaza. The latest strike comes despite an ongoing ceasefire that has been repeatedly disrupted by continued military operations. It also follows Hamas's recent appointment of Khalil al-Hayya as the group's new leader.
