Iran Warns Ships Against Unauthorised Hormuz Crossings
Iran's Revolutionary Guards have warned that all vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz must use routes authorised by the Iranian government, stating that any unauthorised crossing will be considered unacceptable and could face action.
The warning comes as Tehran and Washington continue negotiations over the future of the strategic waterway, which was closed by Iran during the recent conflict.
Iran says it plans to introduce maritime service fees for vessels using the strait, insisting the charges are not tolls. The United States rejects the proposal, maintaining that the Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway where ships should not be required to pay fees.
The Revolutionary Guards said the only approved route through the strait is the one designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran and warned that ignoring these instructions would be both dangerous and unacceptable.
