Iran Warns It Could Fully Close Strait of Hormuz After Fresh US Attacks

Iran has warned that it could completely shut the Strait of Hormuz to all maritime traffic if the United States carries out further attacks on its territory, signaling a major escalation in regional tensions.

According to an informed security source, Tehran also threatened to launch a stronger military response, saying any strike on Iran would be met with attacks on multiple enemy targets. The source added that Iran considers the US and its regional partners equally responsible for any future military action.

The warning came after US President Donald Trump said Washington would likely carry out additional strikes on Iran and declared the previous memorandum of understanding between the two countries effectively over.

Iran also insisted it would maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz and reject any alternative maritime arrangements outside its own framework.

Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched missile and drone attacks on multiple US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait after the US military reported striking more than 80 Iranian targets in response to attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
