Quds Force Chief Warns Israeli Actions Could Impact Key Shipping Route
Iran's Quds Force commander, Esmail Qaani, warned that ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Gaza could lead to increased pressure on maritime traffic through the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
According to Iranian state media, Qaani said Israeli actions, backed by the United States, are strengthening the resolve of the so-called Axis of Resistance — a coalition of Iran and its regional allies — to expand support across multiple fronts.
He stated that continued fighting in Lebanon and Gaza could result in the Bab al-Mandab Strait facing conditions similar to those in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy shipping route that has frequently been at the center of regional tensions.
Qaani's remarks come amid escalating conflict in the Middle East and growing concerns over the security of major international maritime corridors.
