Houthi Attacks Kill at Least 18 Yemeni Military Personnel

At least 18 Yemeni military personnel, including an officer, have been killed in Houthi attacks in the provinces of Marib and Hadramout, according to the Yemeni military.

The military condemned the attacks and said its forces remain on full alert despite the losses. In a statement, it said the attacks would not weaken the armed forces’ commitment to restoring state institutions and extending government authority across Yemen.

The latest violence adds to Yemen’s continuing conflict, where the Houthis remain a major armed force and control significant parts of the country.

The military said the attacks would instead strengthen its determination to continue its operations and fulfil what it described as its national mission.

The casualties highlight the continuing security challenges facing Yemen as efforts to achieve a lasting political settlement remain difficult.
