At least seven Palestinians were killed and 35 wounded in Israeli air strikes across Gaza on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The Nasser Medical Complex also reported that an elderly Palestinian woman was among those wounded after Israeli troops shot her west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Attacks continue despite the ceasefire
The strikes took place while a ceasefire has been in effect since October 2025. Gaza has continued to face Israeli attacks during the truce, despite Hamas and other Palestinian factions not launching major military operations against Israeli forces.
Since October 11, 2025, at least 1,408 Palestinians have been killed and 4,916 injured.
Israeli control and displacement remarks
Israel has taken control of more than 60 percent of Gaza, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the area under Israeli control could increase to about 70 percent.
Israeli officials have also made statements about Palestinians leaving the territory. Defence Minister Israel Katz said earlier this month that Palestinians would leave Gaza. He also argued that migration was necessary for a long-term solution, intensifying concern about the future of Gaza’s population.
The broader toll since October 7, 2023, is nearly 74,000 Palestinians killed and close to 175,000 wounded. The true death toll may be higher, as people remain buried beneath destroyed buildings.
