The Israeli human rights organisation B'Tselem has released a video it says shows an Israeli soldier shooting a Palestinian infant in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

According to B’Tselem, the footage relates to an incident in which seven-month-old Sam Abu Hikal was killed and his parents were injured while traveling in a car in Hebron four days earlier.

The organisation said the video shows a soldier firing at the vehicle as it slowed down and approached a checkpoint area, adding that the family did not appear to pose an immediate threat.

B’Tselem stated that the father was holding the injured child after the shooting while the mother, also wounded, was seen nearby. The incident reportedly occurred as the family returned from a visit in the Tel Rumeida neighbourhood.

Israeli authorities have not yet issued a detailed public response to the claims
