Iran to Open US Communication Channel After Qatar Talks on Ceasefire and Nuclear Deal

Iran announced plans to establish a communication channel with the United States to address any violations of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed earlier this month to end the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the US.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi made the announcement following indirect technical talks between Iranian and US officials in Doha, Qatar. The discussions focused on reducing tensions, maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Gharibabadi also confirmed that part of Iran’s $6 billion in previously frozen assets would be used to purchase essential goods needed by the country. According to Iranian officials, the funds will be spent based on Tehran’s priorities.

Qatari mediators reported positive progress in the negotiations and said both sides agreed to continue discussions in the coming weeks. The talks are part of a broader effort to secure a lasting agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme and regional stability.

US President Donald Trump welcomed the developments, describing the Doha meetings as productive, while US officials stressed that future military action would depend on Iran’s actions and compliance with the agreement.
