US to Enforce Maritime Blockade on Iran’s Ports and Coastal Areas

The United States military will begin enforcing a maritime blockade on Iran starting Tuesday, according to the US Navy-led Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC).

The blockade will cover Iran’s ports, oil terminals and coastal areas, with restrictions applying to all vessels regardless of their flag. The center said ships entering or leaving the restricted zone without authorization could face interception, diversion or capture.

However, the JMIC stated that neutral shipping through the Strait of Hormuz heading to or from non-Iranian destinations would not be affected.

The move comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns over regional security and global maritime trade.
