A cafe owner in the United Kingdom has claimed that police officers attempted to recruit him as an informant to gather information on the activist group Palestine Action. According to the man’s account, officers approached him and allegedly pressured him to provide intelligence on individuals connected to the pro-Palestinian movement. He said the encounter left him shocked and concerned about the monitoring of political activism in Britain.

The allegations were reported amid ongoing scrutiny surrounding Palestine Action, a group known for targeting companies and facilities linked to Israel through direct action protests. British authorities have increasingly focused on the organisation’s activities, leading to arrests and legal action against some activists.

The cafe owner said he refused to cooperate with the alleged request and later chose to speak publicly about the incident. The claims have sparked debate among activists and civil liberties supporters over policing tactics and surveillance practices in the UK. Police have not publicly confirmed the allegations, while discussions continue over the balance between security operations and political freedoms.
