Two people were killed in a targeted shooting during a high school hockey game in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, after a gunman opened fire inside a crowded arena, authorities said.
The incident occurred on February 16, 2026, at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena during a youth hockey matchup attended by players, families and spectators. Police confirmed the victims were the gunman’s ex-wife, Rhonda Dorgan, and their adult son, Aidan Dorgan. Three others — identified as the woman’s parents and a family friend — were critically injured.
Investigators said the attack appeared to be domestic in nature and linked to a family dispute, rather than a random act of violence. Authorities stated the suspect intentionally targeted specific individuals in the stands before fatally shooting himself at the scene.
All student athletes participating in the game were reported unharmed. The arena was quickly secured and evacuated as emergency responders arrived. Officials have described the shooting as an isolated incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
