Several Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine over the past few days have killed civilians and damaged residential buildings and infrastructure, Ukrainian officials say.

One of the deadliest recent strikes hit Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, where a Russian missile struck a five-story apartment building, killing at least seven people and injuring about 10 others, including children. Emergency crews searched the rubble for survivors as firefighters battled flames in the heavily damaged building. The strike was part of a broader overnight assault in which Russia launched dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones targeting multiple regions, including energy infrastructure and residential areas. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted many of the projectiles, but several strikes still hit populated locations.

Separate attacks in eastern Ukraine also caused casualties. Ukrainian officials reported four people killed in Sloviansk in another strike earlier in the week, while additional damage was reported in cities including Dnipro and Odesa as part of the continuing bombardment. The attacks come as the war, now in its fourth year, continues to produce heavy civilian casualties and widespread destruction. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strikes and renewed calls for increased international military support.
