Trump Threatens EU With Tariffs After Google Hit With $1 Billion Antitrust Fine

US President Donald Trump has threatened the European Union with new tariffs and a trade investigation after Brussels imposed a $1 billion antitrust fine on Google.

Trump criticized the penalty as discriminatory against American technology companies, saying the EU would "pay a very big price" and accusing the bloc of unfairly targeting US businesses.

The European Commission ruled that Google violated the Digital Markets Act by giving preferential treatment to its own services in search results and restricting app developers from directing users to alternative payment options outside the Play Store.

The fine was divided between the two violations, and Google has been given 60 days to comply with the EU's requirements or face additional penalties. The decision comes as trade tensions between Washington and Brussels risk escalating once again.
