Report Claims Former New York Mayor Eric Adams Secretly Honoured Israeli Soldiers During Gaza War

Former New York Mayor Eric Adams reportedly hosted active-duty Israeli soldiers at City Hall in April 2024 and honoured them for their service in Gaza during a private event that was not publicly disclosed, according to a media report.

The report says the meeting was omitted from Adams' public schedule, and staff were instructed not to share photos or details on social media due to concerns over its timing.

The event is cited in a discrimination lawsuit filed by former City Hall aide Hasibe Rashid, who alleges she faced discrimination because she is Palestinian-American and was marginalized after raising concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Rashid is seeking reinstatement, back pay and more than $1 million in damages. The allegations have not been proven in court.

The report also highlights Adams' long-standing support for Israel, including his 2023 visit to Israel, backing for Israeli security cooperation and support for police action during pro-Palestinian demonstrations in New York. Several policies introduced under his administration relating to protests and anti-Semitism were later reversed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani after taking office in 2026.
