Pentagon Revises US Army Death Toll on Website Following Ceasefire Reporting
The Pentagon has revised the reported number of U.S. troops killed on its official website, reducing the figure from 18 to 14, according to a report by The New York Times.
The report, citing military officials, said the change followed a decision to exclude four service members who were killed after President Donald Trump declared a ceasefire with Iran, as their deaths occurred after the announced truce.
Responding to questions about the revision, Pentagon acting press secretary Joel Valdez said the updated figures were the result of temporary data disruptions affecting the website.
The revised casualty figures have drawn attention as questions continue over how military losses are reported during the ongoing regional conflict.
