North Korea Arrests State-Trained Hackers Over Alleged Bank Attacks

North Korean authorities have reportedly arrested a group of former state-trained cyber operators accused of hacking two major state banks and laundering stolen funds through digital assets.

Reports claim the group, allegedly made up of former members of North Korea’s intelligence-linked cyber units, targeted the Central Bank of Korea and the Foreign Trade Bank. Investigators say the hackers converted stolen funds into cryptocurrency and moved them through China-based brokers to avoid detection.

The group allegedly used encrypted communication tools and foreign equipment to hide their activities before transferring stolen assets into overseas digital wallets.

The report has not been independently verified, but if confirmed, it would represent a rare case of North Korea’s own cyber infrastructure being targeted by individuals trained within the state system. North Korea has previously been accused of large-scale cryptocurrency theft campaigns worldwide.
