Kuwait Ratifies Defense Cooperation Agreement With Pakistan After Three Years

Kuwait has officially ratified a comprehensive defense cooperation agreement with Pakistan, three years after the pact was first signed in June 2023. The agreement has now been published in Kuwait’s official gazette, making it formally effective.

The five-year agreement strengthens military cooperation between the two countries in areas including training, military education, intelligence sharing, logistics, defense technology, scientific research and the exchange of expertise. It also covers cooperation in military manufacturing, electronic communications, military media, and cultural and sports activities involving the armed forces.

A joint military committee will supervise the implementation of the agreement, coordinate joint military exercises, official visits and oversee other defense cooperation programs. The pact will automatically renew unless either country decides to end it and includes provisions to protect confidential military information and settle disputes through diplomatic channels.

The ratification follows increased military engagement between Kuwait and Pakistan and comes as Gulf nations continue to strengthen regional security partnerships amid ongoing security challenges.
