Kosovo Joins US-Led Gaza Stabilisation Force
Kosovo has formally agreed to join the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in Gaza, becoming one of a limited number of countries to commit personnel to the multinational mission.
The agreement was signed in Pristina by Kosovo Security Force Commander Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari and US Major General Jasper Jeffers, who commands the planned stabilisation force.
Kosovo’s Role in the Mission
Kosovo has already had security personnel involved with the mission’s preparations. Its personnel have been working on areas including logistics, civil affairs and clearing unexploded weapons.
The exact number of Kosovo personnel to be deployed has not been finalised, although officials have indicated that the contribution could be around 25 personnel.
The ISF is intended to support security in Gaza as part of a broader US-backed plan involving a transitional administration and reconstruction efforts.
More Countries Expected to Contribute
Kosovo joins countries including Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan and Albania, which have also committed to the force. However, the overall number of troops pledged remains well below the approximately 20,000 personnel envisioned for the mission.
The deployment still faces major challenges, including questions surrounding the implementation of the broader Gaza plan, security arrangements and the transition of authority inside the territory.
Kosovo’s agreement nevertheless represents another step toward creating the multinational force intended to support security and stabilisation efforts in Gaza.
