Israeli Raids in Nablus Injure 11 Palestinians Amid West Bank Tensions
At least 11 Palestinians, including four children, were injured after Israeli soldiers and settlers carried out raids in Nablus and nearby areas of the occupied West Bank on Friday, according to Palestinian medical sources.
Residents said Israeli forces used live ammunition, stun grenades and tear gas during the operation in the Junaid neighbourhood of Nablus. The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that one of the injured suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Israeli soldiers and settlers also entered the town of Tal and nearby areas southwest of Nablus before later withdrawing. Videos verified by Al Jazeera showed Israeli troops gathering in Tal during the operation.
Palestinian media reported that Israeli forces detained at least 10 people in raids across the occupied West Bank, including in Nablus, Tal, Salem and Bethlehem.
The Israeli military confirmed that Israeli civilians had entered Area A of the occupied West Bank, where entry is prohibited under Israeli law, and said they later left the area. The military also stated it had received reports of vandalism at a Palestinian cemetery.
