Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon killed at least six medics within a 24-hour period, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. Officials said the attacks targeted multiple areas as tensions continued despite an existing ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.
Lebanese authorities stated that emergency and medical workers were among those killed during the strikes, which also caused damage to infrastructure in several towns near the border region. The Health Ministry condemned the attacks and accused Israel of continuing military operations despite international calls for restraint.
The Israeli military said its operations were aimed at Hezbollah positions and infrastructure, arguing that armed activity near the border remained a security threat. Cross-border exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah have continued intermittently for months, raising fears of wider regional escalation. International mediators have repeatedly called for calm, warning that further violence could destabilise the region further.
