Ukraine’s Zelenskyy Targets Russia With 1,000 Drone Strikes Daily

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered a major increase in long-range drone attacks against Russia, saying Kyiv aims to launch at least 1,000 drones per day.

In an evening address, Zelenskyy said the current estimate is around 300 drones daily but stressed that Ukraine needs to significantly expand its capabilities. He said the target had been set and would be achieved.

The announcement came after reports that US CIA Director John Ratcliffe visited Moscow for meetings with Russian intelligence officials. Zelenskyy said Kyiv had received information from the US about the meetings and thanked Washington for the information and the tone of its discussions with Russia. The Kremlin confirmed Ratcliffe met Russian intelligence officials but said he did not meet President Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, Russian attacks continued across Ukraine, with deaths and injuries reported in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kherson and Kharkiv regions.

Zelenskyy also said Ukrainian forces had struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, around 1,000 kilometres from the front line. He claimed strikes on Russian military production and oil facilities were damaging fuel supplies, export revenues and rocket-engine manufacturing.
