Israeli Army Faces Troop Shortage and Possible Suspension of Leave

The Israeli army is facing a severe shortage of personnel and military equipment after years of fighting across multiple fronts, with preparations reportedly underway to restrict or suspend soldiers’ leave.

Israeli media reported that the shortage has become serious enough for the military to consider denying leave to some personnel. The army is also reportedly struggling to maintain sufficient tanks and armored personnel carriers, with hundreds of vehicles damaged during years of military operations.

The equipment shortage is being compounded by disputes over military funding. Israeli media reported that the army has warned that additional funding is needed to repair damaged vehicles and maintain ammunition production.

A planned purchase of 12 Apache attack helicopters from Boeing has also reportedly been affected by procurement budget constraints.

The reported shortages come as the Israeli military continues operations across several fronts, placing additional pressure on its personnel, equipment and budget.
